The first season of Overwatch League Group stage has come to an end. With the Season playoffs scheduled for a few weeks later, we are already witnessing the details of how successful the first season was. The league managed average viewership in numbers higher than 100,000 regularly. While there were dips in viewership numbers in Stage 3, the numbers rose again in Stage 4.
Initially, there were so many skeptics of the league and its format. The Overwatch league definitely was a massive success when you compare it with Noah Whinston‘s expectations of 30,000-50,000 viewers per match.
When we were finalizing our purchase of an @overwatchleague franchise, there was a very wide spread amount of skepticism and many people who immediately wrote off the idea as a flash in the pan. Boy, were they wrong. The first regular season was a massive success.
