Students will be taught to acquire skills that work through educational projects through the eyes of gaming.

“We can not be more excited to extend our understanding, reach and resources of education to Edward Harris Jr., Jr. middle school, Kahlil Keys, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Gen.G. We are proud to partner with a school that shares our mission of giving students concrete skills and networks to achieve success.

“We think that this programme will ultimately create a new framework to help students define their dream career with STEM by engaging with gaming and professional technology.”

There are three classes: gaming and sports, gaming and society and gaming and innovation. Students will specifically explore topics such as zero-carbon, game development, content development and sustainable development.

Students will also be able to meet professionals from the gaming sector including content designers, professional gamers and marketing professionals.

“Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School has been proud to partner with Gen.G in providing an opportunity for our students to explore a potential career in the gaming world,” adds Charles Amy, Principal of Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School.

“This programme integrates video game and design passions, the first objective of which is learning for everyone. From this effort, we only foresee fruitful results.”

The partnership between General G and Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School, forms part of continuing SMUD’s community support programme for Sacramento.

Rosanna Herber, Member of the Board of Directors at SMUD, commented: “This is an incredible opportunity for Elk Grove students to harness the power of tomorrow. The engaging STEM activities let students dive into the Minecraft platform to solve real-world problems within their own communities.

“With the addition of SMUD’s curriculum and Resource Priorities Map, students will design and implement a local project that enhances public life and protects the environment and our future.”
