Galaxy Battles 2 was rescinded of its Major status by Valve after concerns over the Philline Governments policies on drug abuse and how they would handle it. Philippines recognizes esports as a legitimate sport and that requires regular drug checks.
The EPICENTER XL tournament has been announced as another major in the Dota2 Calendar year, it will feature a prize pool of $1 million and will have the teams competing for the 1500 Dota Pro Circuit points on offer.
The finals of the tournament will be held in Moscow from 27th April till 6th May 2018. The qualifiers for the tournament will begin from 20th January 2018
