Starladder reveals the first seven teams for Season 7

The next season of Starseries & I-league is quite some time away. However, the tournament organiser has already announced the list of attendees to the event. Starting on March 30 and continuing for a week, Starseries & I-League Season 7 will see a total prize pool of $500,000. This is a $300,000 increase from the previous season’s prize pool.

The tournament organiser has announced the first seven teams to receive an invite to the event. The event will take place in Shanghai. There are six new teams joining Team Wild, who secured their spot at the event after winning GAMECON Brasilia 2018.

Here is a list of teams already confirmed for the event :

  • Tyloo
  • Team Liquid
  • Made in Brazil
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • NRG
  • Mousesports

Starseries & I-League Season 6 will see a total of sixteen teams. With seven teams already receiving an invite, it leaves nine more teams yet to be announced. Out of these nine teams, three will qualify via the online qualifiers. The remaining six teams will receive an invitation from Starseries.

Valve has shown an extra focus on hosting events and tournaments in China. The international 2019 also taking place in Shanghai, China seems to be bursting at the seams when it comes to esports and esports events. There is also reciprocal investment from Chinese companies in esports. In the Overwatch League, we have seen three new Chinese teams investing in the league. With each entry into the Overwatch League rumoured to be around $30-$50 million, this is a significant amount of investment.
