CSGO: Copenhagen Flames and Players qualify to 2022 PGL Major Antwerp Legends Stage

Ninjas in Pyjamas 0-2 Copenhagen Flames

The Danish team came up on top against the legendary Swedish team. Ninjas in Pyjamas were the clear favorites coming into this match but Cophengen Flames snatched the win in a dominating manner. This victory is extremely important for the Copenhagen Flames because now they have qualified for the PGL Major Antwerp 2022.

The match began with Flame’s map Vertigo and it was much closer than expected. They started with a strong T-side and got a 6-3 lead against the Ninjas and the game was looking very favorable for the Danish team. But Ninjas in Pyjamas managed to come back into the game and got into a leading position, getting a comfortable 14-10 score. The Flames got a huge momentum swing thanks to nicodoodz, the player of the match, after showing a good performance for a few rounds.

Overpass was the second map and it was NIP’s pick. But this time it was much more one-sided in favor of the Copenhagen Flames because the Ninjas weren’t able to find any type of lead early in the match. All of the players in the Copenhagen Flames lineup played extremely well, but nicodoodz stole the spotlight, with a kill difference of +19 and 102.5 ADR, he was the clear MVP and now the Flames can celebrate their major spot acquisition.

Players 2-1 Astralis

Players were the very first team to qualify for the PGL Major Antwerp’s Legends Stage and they did so in a convincing manner. They had a perfect 3-0 run but their last series against Astralis wasn’t as easy as they would’ve wanted.

The first game was played on Ancient, the map picked by Astralis. The Danish team started losing the early game after they didn’t manage to secure any wins against Players strong defense, but this didn’t last for long. After a very back-and-forth game Players came out on top with a 16-13 score and they were ready to play the next map, Dust2, which was their pick. The Russian team started struggling in the first rounds and Astralis got an early lead of 8-3 on the CT-side. This game looked doomed for Players from the very beginning and even if they managed to snatch a few rounds, Astralis came up on top 16-12.

The last map Inferno was extremely one-sided in favor of Players, they got an early lead and Astralis couldn’t catch up to them for the majority of the match. Ax1le’s performance made him the player of the match with a +19 kill difference and 96.8 ADR. The Russian squad is looking really strong and they’ll come into the Legends Stage with a huge confidence boost after defeating one of the tournament favorites the way they did. On the other hand, Astralis failed to pick up a very important win and now they’ll have to play against G2 Esports tomorrow to have another chance at qualifying for the major.
