LOL: World Championship moved to Iceland confirmed

LOL: World Championship moved to Iceland confirmed

After the plans in China failed, the World Championship of this year is moved to Iceland.

LoL Esports today announced that the 2021 World Championship is going to be held at the Laugardalshöll indoor sports arena in Reykjavik, Iceland. The Mid-Season Invitational was held at the same place this year. After a short time of radio silence from Riot Games, after when they announced a few weeks ago that the venue will be changed from China to Europe, the news about World Championship came out.

During MSI, the event was held without players getting affected due to COVID-19, so the changing of venue from locale to Iceland makes sense. But it’s considerable, that event did not have live spectators. This is unfortunate that Worlds 2021 will do the same about not hosting a live audience. It is necessary to make sure that everybody is safe. But still, this is a disappointing thing for the fans who wanted to attend and feel the excitement and energy in person.

The competition dates were too announced, along with the announcement of Worlds 2021. Along with the Play-ins Stage, the action will start from 5 to 9 October. Then with a brief break in-between the main Group Stage will be continued from 11 to 18 October. Thereafter, the Knockout Stage with Quarterfinals begins from 22 to 25 October, then Semi-finals from 30 to 31 October. And at last on 6 November, the Grand Finals will be held which marks the end of the event.

After the teams moved to Iceland now, all we have to do is to wait. Worlds is the thrilling most time of the year for LoL fans around the whole world and will be seeking forward to see the clash of teams in Iceland.
