Today, the Overwatch League (OWL) appointed Xfinity as its chosen official Internet service provider and an online play partner.
There were no financial terms announced, but the sides claimed that the relationship is two years. This is a different form of OWL sponsorship. GMR is the sports marketing agency of Xfinity which is briefed on the sports marketing industry.
In 2011, when it was the presenting partners for the Playoffs and the Grand Finals Ligue in Philadelphia the company owned by the Comcast first sponsored OWL.
In addition to other activations, Xfinity will acquire assets related to digital signage and content. Xfinity X1, which includes the highlighted series “In Case You Missed It,” will now also include OWL content.
Both 20 OWL teams now play on-line only after the League has ended their individual events in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic for the remainder of the regular season.
