Event organiser ESL revealed that it will be presenting the Brawl Stars Championship, a collaboration with Supercell, creator of Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars.
The $1 million (£777,000) will be paid by Supercell. With the increased prize pool, the Community contribution from in-game purchases would rise by up to 50 percent.
The Brawl Stars Championship is open to players from all over the world, who can qualify for the monthly finals online. A $1 million prize pool (€ 777,000) can be funded by up to $500,000 by crowdfunding this fall. The World Finals will be celebrated this autumn.
The fan-focusing aspect of the contest was discussed by Kim Jensen, Competing participant at Supercell: “The Brawl Stars Championship encourages all competitors, irrespective of their prior experience in the field of sports, to play the world stage.
“The open format of the competition eliminates all barriers to entry and makes it the best of the world championship’s best. Brawl Stars ‘ game was a fan-faced beta tournament and we felt it was important to continue to highlight the most important element in the game: their enthusiastic community. “ESL Publisher Relations Manager Bogdan Grigorie also commented on this deal:” We are extremely excited to work on this amazing game such as Brawl Stars. We are very happy to run the Brawl star championship together with Supercell, which has created a very successful title for esports.
“The provision of your first Brawls Stars championship team with Finland’s leading game developer is a very important step for us since we supported mobile esports from the start, and we supported innovative new formats at ESL.”
