A fanatic World of Warcraft player in the online multiplayer Adventure game finds a nod to Overwatch, and it’s pretty witty.
Released back in 2004, World of Warcraft is one of the top online games of all time, with a colossal sales gross of $9.23 billion by 2017.
Since then, Blizzard Entertainment has made many other titles by WoW, so it should come as no surprise that the developer included in the MMORPG references to his other games.
A diligent Overwatch enthusiast finds a tribute in the online RPG to two much-loved characters and shared his observations to Reddit.
User ‘Owlero’ uploaded a video captioned “Today I learned that in World of Warcraft there is Junkrat and Roadhog Easter Egg” and introduced their findings.
Two non-playable characters can be seen wandering around in the clip: one named Junkbrat, and one named Roadtrogg–a clear reference to the characters of DPS and Tank.
The hero Junkrat is a little gnome with a blonde mohawk, a grenade and dynamite stuck to his head, and he carries a flamethrower–a close resemblance to Overwatch’s anarchist.
Roadtrogg is a strong and a gas mask games, close to the true FPS character. He doesn’t feel as much like the real character as the homage to Junkrat, but it’s still a clear reference.
The two characters of WoW can be found on Mechagon Island in Bondo’s Yard and are related to a quest titled’ WANTED: Junkbrat and Roadtrogg.
In the game, players have to kill the pair as they have caused havoc by “eat unlikely Mechano-Chicken Wings without compensation.” The search has a minimum party number of three, which means it is best not to take them out if you want to try your hand to meet them throughout combat.
The FPS is actually getting two MMORPG-themed skins in terms of WoW coming to Overwatch: Illidan Genji and Tyrande Symmetra.
Players need to buy a BlizzCon 2019 Virtual Ticket to unlock them, which can be found for $49.99 in Blizzard’s official webshop.
