The IEM Katowice CSGO Major is currently underway. There are only sixteen teams remaining in the event with the Legends stage set to begin in a few days. The Katowice Major is one of the biggest CS: GO events to date. However, Starladder has already revealed its plans of hosting the next CS: GO Major
Starladder will host the next Major in Berlin. The tournament will take place in August immediately following the Player Break. The Starladder Major will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. This is the same venue for the 2015 League of Legends World Championships. The PUBG Global Invitational also took place at this venue last year.
The main event will take place from 5th to 8th September 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The Major process starts in July which is when the CS: GO Minors will take place. The Minors will feature teams from different regions participating in regional qualifiers. This will trim down the number of participants to just eight challenger teams. They will join the existing top eight ‘Champions’ from the IEM Katowice Major.
The Major schedule needs a revision.
The Major is going to take place immediately post the more paly break. It is a small departure from the current system where there are usually one to two tournaments between the Major and the Player Break. This also means that we will come into the Major blind and devoid of much in terms of action in the CS: GO Scene. Is it the right choice for the players to directly play the major as their first tournament post the player break?
Our company was founded out of an immense passion for Counter-Strike, Our very first tournaments many years ago started with CS. This game was and remains as a critical part of who we are, we grew up with it, and couldn’t be more excited.
It is a great honour for us to host the 15th anniversary Major in such a stunning venue, and for such an incredible community! We will do our best to impress the fans and deliver a truly memorable Major!
Alexander Chegrinez, Head of Business Development at StarLadder.
The schedule of the main stages of the StarLadder Major are as follows:
- July 17-21 – Europe & Americas Minors
- July 24-28 – CIS & Asia Minors
- July 29 – Minor Play-in
- August 20-25 – Challengers Stage
- August 27-September 1 – Legends Stage.
The prize pool of the CS: GO Major will remain unchanged and amount to $1,000,000 as well as the prize pools of the four Minors will remain at the same level of $50,000 for each region. All details regarding the qualifiers will be announced at a later stage.
