Valve recently made some sweeping changes to the esports calendar and ruleset of Dota2. The Majors and the minors system in Dota2 will be replaced by third party events. Valve will themselves match the third party organisations and will fund the Majors and minors system.
In stark contrast to the earlier system, each major and minor will carry points. The value of these points will all accumulate in the invitation to the International which is the biggest event in esports history. Every dota2 team wants to be a part of the International and this will compel them not only to keep a stable roster, but also participate in as many invites as possible.
There are certain nuance that can be worked out, such as the invitations to the minors and majors, however we are sure Valve will make the system fair and just to everyone.
