Facebook is making big strides into esports live streaming industry. Facing off against industry behemoths like Twitch, Youtube, Facebook finds itself at a big disadvantage.
The Social media company initially had secured the rights to stream certain events. They also partnered up with Dignitas to stream their players exclusively on its platform. The latest deal makes Facebook one of the two companies as bigwigs into livestreaming business deals with ESL.
“With over 1.94 billion monthly active users on Facebook, this is a huge step toward expanding the reach of eSports among mainstream audiences,” ESL vice president of social media and editorial Johannes Schiefer said in a statement.
