ESL One Cologne has been the marquee event for CSGO throughout history. With almost all the majors till date being held at ESL One Cologne, it has seen top attendance from the best teams in the world.
Many expected this years ESL One Cologne to be the next major, however Valve spun a surprise on everyone when they announced PGL as the hosts of the next major. PGL Krakow will be host to the next major and that definitely puts spoilsport to several plans for ESL and Dreamhack.
This move by Valve should largely be seen as them wanting to diversify their relationship with the parent company of these two organisations.
Astralis, the current world champions have announced that they will not be attending ESL One Cologne. This is definitely in direct relation due to the proximity of the next major
