As the offseason progresses, rosters will start shuffling rapidly. Sources say Spring split MVP Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin will be leaving Immortals and joining Team Liquid. An announcement shortly after confirmed that Rookie of Spring split Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnet, the current jungler on Team Liquid, was leaving the roster.
Evidenced by Team Liquid’s recent documentary, Breaking Point, Dardoch wasn’t satisfied with his team and eagerly wanted to explore other options after going 4th in the Spring and 6th in Summer. Despite being portrayed in a negative light, he will no doubt find a new team because of his jungling talent and North American resident status. Since there’s a lack of talented junglers in North America, Dardoch will be a valuable acquisition to many teams who currently need a competent jungler. Echo Fox, Immortals, and Cloud 9 are just a few teams that come to mind who will benefit from fresh blood coming in.
Reignover also experienced a relatively disappointing year after signing with Immortals. The 17-1 and 16-2 regular season splits both ended with heartbreaking losses in the semifinals of playoffs. The success of Immortals was largely contributed to Reignover, as he won the Most Valuable Player award in Spring. Not only was he able to outjungle every opponent in the region with his intuition and in-game intelligence, but he also elevated the play of all the junglers in North America by forcing everyone to compete at his level. It’s unfortunate that he was unable to qualify for worlds this season since he was in one of the best Western teams of all time in 2015. Hopefully a world-class roster will be able to be built around him and he’ll have a shot at qualifying this time around.
