RFRSH Entertainment raises $10.5 million funding.

RFRSH entertainment is a company deeply invested in esports. It has stakes in several prominent esports entities like Astralis as well as the Blast Pro Series of tournaments. Recently the Blast Pro Series announced that they will host events all across the world. The next few stops for the tournament will be Lisbon, Miami, Sao Paolo and Madrid.

The organisation has announced that it has secured an extra $10 million in funding from the Danish Growth Fund, Creandum, and Sunstone.

We see a significant potential in the development of live, digital and Originals formats in esports appealing to a much wider audience than that of today. Blast Pro Series is a live format produced for both the audience in the arena, for the online fans and for the mainstream audience on Flow TV. We produce a lot of different high-quality content around the tournament for use on our own channels but also for the rights takers, who get the full package of explanatory content, documentary pieces. Through our own and the teams’ channels, we reach millions of followers.

Where does the money go?

This new investment is definitely a big number, but RFRSH already has several projects underway. We have already mentioned their Counter-Strike Global Offensive team Astralis, they are the current Major winners. They had a very dominating performance against their opponents at the FaceIT London Major 2018.

In addition to this, RFRSH also recently announced the expansion of the Blast Pro Series into four new cities. In addition to this, there are reports of Astralis possibly being included in the EU LCS. If this is true, then Astralis needs to pay up $10.5 million as the franchise fee to Riot Games.

Primarily a Counter-Strike team, Astralis has evolved into a dominant force in CS:GO. They were one of the first teams to implement a mental coach. Their focus on ensuring the overall development of their players has born fruit as Astralis won the FaceIT London Major after dominating the scene throughout the season.
