One of the most high-profile Main Tank players in Overwatch, Jin-hyuk “Miro” Gong has will no longer be a part of OWL Season 2. He has taken a decision to pursue streaming as he takes a break from Professional Overwatch. The announcement on twitter makes no mention of a potential retirement from Overwatch.
Miro has been one of the most high-profile Main tank players in Korea. Considering how dominant the Korean players are in comparison to the west, he was easily the best Main Tank player at a time.
“I’ve decided to go streamer. I thought abt it a lot, discussed it w ppl… Some people said it was a good idea, other people asked me if I wouldn’t have any regrets, after all I’ve done in pro gaming. I want to give myself a pat on the back for what I’ve done so far.” https://t.co/N36PBWdgwo

A revolutionary Tank player
Miro was one of the most revolutionary tank players in the world. His effectiveness on Winston essentially made him an integral component of his team. He played for Seoul Dynasty in Season 1 and they went by name of Lunatic Hai before the start of Overwatch League. Under the Lunatic Hai organisation, Miro led the team to victory at several International tournaments. The OGN Apex Cup 2 & 3, as well as the OGL Seoul Super Cup, are just a few examples of these wins. In each of these victories, Miro was essential to creating space for his DPS players.
Seoul Dynasty were the undisputed leaders of the International Overwatch scene firmly establishing their dominance over any other team. Miro was also a part of the Overwatch World Cup 2017. South Korea won the OWWC 2017 without much effort on their part.
Miro has a very aggressive and yet co-ordinated performance with the rest of the team on his Winston. He was a revolutionary when it comes to Winston plays. Even the superstars of the Overwatch League Season 1, Fissure and Gesture acknowledge the fact that Miro was the best Main Tank player at his prime.
But Seoul Dynasty had a poor run in Season 1.
Fans and analysts had a lot of expectations from Seoul Dynasty. Coming from the fame of Lunatic Hai, this roster had all the necessary resources to become the best team in OWL Season 1. However, several key members did not perform up to expectations. Miro was one of these ‘key members’ who did not have a good time in Season 1. His lack of performance definitely was a big reason for the Seoul Dynasty’s underperformance.
For now, Miro will take on streaming in order to connect with his fans. He had a very non-committal reply to whether he would go professional again. This means he will look to improve his personal gameplay and hopefully make a comeback for Season 3 or possibly even mid-Season 2.
For now, you can catch his streams on Twitch. Fun fact, Miro is a big fan of Seagull and his Twitch Username is a copy of Seagull’s (A_Seagull).
