The Overwatch league makes changes to the Title Stage format

There are new changes announced for the Overwatch League Title stage matches. While previous stages saw only three teams advancing to the Stage Playoffs, this stage will see four teams qualifying for the stage playoffs. ofcourse if you are at the top of the leaderboards, you will still get a significant advantage in the new format.

The team ranked first in the stage will be able to choose their primary opponents. This gives them a huge advantage as they can choose their semi-final opponents. This provides them possibly an easier route to the finals which will feature a prize pool of $100,000 for the first place.

Tie-Breaker format:

The tiebreakers will remain the same for Stage Finals qualification:

  1. Stage-only map differential.
  2. Stage-only head-to-head result.
  3. If two teams are tied in record and map differential without having played one another during the stage in question, qualification/seeding will be decided by a single tiebreaker match, with format and scheduling details to be determined.
