ESL Manila was one of the most successful tournaments to be held last year in the ESL rung of tournaments. Manila is located in Philippines and is home to one of the biggest communities for Dota2. The Manila event definitely was a huge success and ESL have taken note of that.
ESL have announced the ESL Manila Masters. ESL Manila Masters is a joint effort between ESL and the Mineski-Events team. The event will be held at the SM Mall of Asia arena. The event will take place from May 26th – 28th and boasts a prize pool of $250,000.
There will be eight teams participating in the event. Manila Masters have already sent out the invite to the first team for the event. Evil Genius will be the first team to participate at the event.
Philippines has long been one of the strongholds for the Dota2 community. With the vast majority of players from the region taking the game seriously, it is also important to note the recent Fnatic team which also is from the region. Sadly however there is no current philippine team that is in the Tier one scene right now.
Ulriche Schulze :
“We’ve had a great experience working with Mineski on the region’s largest esports event in 2016, when we hosted the first Dota 2 competition at ESL One Manila. I’m confident that their experience, knowledge and passion for esports is going to be a solid base to build an outstanding event on. We’re excited to see what they will come up with, and we’re looking forward to bringing more ESL events to Manila in the coming years.”
Marlon Marcelo :
“MET has always been ready. As the most experienced and professional organizing team in the Philippines, we rose to meet the challenges posted by ESL the past few years and we have grown even more since then. We’re excited to put into action everything we’ve learned in order to put the Philippines on the map. We are very thankful for the Filipino fans — this could never have happened without their passion and energy for esports.”
If are you from Manila, make sure to buy your tickets from SM Tickets shortly. The arena is going to be sold out if the past few events are any indication to go by.
