South Korea passes Bill to make Hacking and Cheating in eSports illegal

South Korea is known for the popularity of eSports in the country. South Korean Overwatch roster recently won the Overwatch World Cup.

However with the booming eSports industry int he country also came the booming hacking and cheating industry. South Korea was notorious for the popularity of several hacks and cheats produced in the country.

The South Korean Legislative assembly recently passed an amendment which makes it illegal to Manufacture and distribute software not permitted by the game company in its Terms and Services. That would include aimbotters, hacking programs, scripters, or anything not allowed by the ToS.

We have to specially mention Overwatch which has been a special target for hacking software and various cheats. Most of these cheats have emanated from South Korea. Blizzard recently banned several players who have used these cheats and hacks. These bans are permanent and will not be overturned. In addition to this, the South Korean Law Agencies will be on the lookout for both the manufacturers and the users of these hacks.
