After several months of preparations and efforts, the Malta Esports Association ( MEA) was formally announced this week. The launch event was hosted at the Montekristo Estates in Luqa, MESA’s main sponsor, and welcomed more than 80 guests that ranged from gamers and students to professional business executives and sports enthusiasts.
The aim of the Association would not only be limited to provide a platform for new and upcoming gamers, but its also aimed at the high skilled professional gamers. The association aims to be a common platform catering to the needs of all the gamers in the region.
MESA became a reality because of the support of all the Maltese video-gamers that wanted to see a change for the better in the local esports scene.” This word of thanks was also extended to their families who, instead of acting as deterrents, are starting to appreciate how much this industry has to offer.
– Gauci, MESA President
MEA plans to set up a national league. The league would be a common meeting place for new upcoming players as well as already established gamers.
